ICD developed from a register just of fatal diseases to a full classification of diseases and related health problems.
ICD-9 and previous revisions
In addition to the various versions of ICD-10, BfArM also provides previous versions in file form.
ICD in the GDR
In the GDR, in addition to their own classification, the so-called GDR directory, GDR versions of the ICD-9 and ICD-8 were used. They were used, for example, to encode diseases in the social insurance card of the GDR.
