Instead of ICD-6 and ICD-7 in the former German Democratic Republic a special classification served as the basis for morbidity and mortality encoding from 1952 to 1968: "Verzeichnis der Krankheiten und Todesursachen für Zwecke der Medizinalstatistik" (DDR-Verzeichnis).
