HeartSine Technologies has issued a Field Safety Notice concerning a corrective action of the samaritan PAD 500P public access defibrillators. The software in device manufactured between February 2010 and January 2014 may miscalculate the CPR rate of compression per minute being administered to the patient. The rescuer may, therefore, be advised to push slower when, in fact, the rate is at an acceptable level. An updated version 3.4.0 which addresses the issue has been posted on the HeartSine Technologies website ready for download.
