HealthcareRisk of the Ohmeda Medical Giraffe Spot Lite Phototherapy Lights from GE Healthcare

Product group Physical therapy
Reference 02010/05

GE Healthcare informs about a potential risk of the Ohmeda Medical Giraffe Spot Lite Phototherapy Lights. The lights gooseneck could sag so that the distance between the patient and the light is less than the recommended 38 cm. This can cause an increased skin surface temperature of the patient. GE Healthcare anticipates having a hardware solution available by late 2005. In the meantime, the customers are instructed by an Advisory Notice (incl. warning tags) to use the phototherapy lights only on patients placed in closed incubators.
